Pier Lease Plans Take a Step Forward

Plans for The Helensburgh Pier Company Ltd (HPC) to take on a 25 year lease of Helensburgh’s Timber Pier have taken a step forward after they were discussed at the Argyll and Bute Council Helensburgh and Lomond Area Committee meeting on 10 December.

The minutes from the meeting state

The Helensburgh and Lomond Area Committee noted the detailed work undertaken by The Helensburgh Pier Company Ltd and that Heads of Terms had been agreed with officers to work towards the grant of a new lease of Helensburgh Pier allowing the group to seek funding for its phased redevelopment.

In a statement from Argyll and Bute Council, Policy Lead for Finance and Commercial Services, Councillor Ross Moreland, said:

This is very positive progress for everyone involved. The Helensburgh Pier Company Ltd is keen to get the ball moving on this project and apply for funding streams the council cannot access to help reinstate the pier and bring it back into full use to benefit the Helensburgh waterfront and the wider community.
